Thumbs up Some tunes from musically vibrant NZ

One of my favourite music locations and third home, New Zealand.

I've been pretty impressed by what the Runga sisters ( Boh & Bic ) have been churning out of late.

Boh has her own band called Stellar, which I'll list a few of their hits below. If anybody remembers the band, The Thompson Twins of the 80's, Tom Bailey actually did some session work in the studio and helped produce their CD's.

This song has a bit of a Skunk Anansie flavour to it.

Another NZ band I'm sort of into of late, is Spacifix, pretty catchy, with a Rastauckland reggae flavour .

The most interesting band I have seen out of NZL recently has been Flight of the Conchords!
No-one beats The Datsuns though!

Ahhh, yes, New Zealand has produced some of the best "interesting" musicians:
1. Dave Dobbin
2. Russ le Roq
3. Richard Wilde
4. OMC

Although, I do agree with Lammarite in regards to Flight of the Conchords. Their own O\official website claimed that they are "New Zealand's fourth most popular digi-folk paradists", having been surpassed by a tribute band of themselves, called "Like of the Conchords". Very entertaining.

NZ has shed loads of bands, too many to name lol.

Lets not forget NZ's most famous music export, not to mention one of the worlds best music acts, The Finn Brothers, namely Neil & Tim. Famed by their first band Split Enz, later and more commonly known through Neils Australian formed Crowded House, which continue to play/Chart today.

Split Enz: 6 months in a leaky boat

Split Enz: One step ahead

Crowded House: Four seasons in one day.
A couple of other classic NZ bands of the past, Mi-sex and Dragon.

Mi-sex: Blue Day

Dragon- Rain

Kiaora Donkey Whoa cuz.

I am half Kiwi, my dads from Tauranga, Bay of Plenty, 3 of my sisters live there and most of my extended family. Which part of Nzed you from ?

Yeah I agree with you, Good night nurse are pretty choice.

I have never heard the mint chicks before, they sound excellent too.

When you think about it, NZ really has a lot going on musically, in very similar ways to the Melbourne music scene. Such a melting pot of talent.

It's a real shame Hong Kong is so dim, musically. But then again, they still play Carpenters songs here on the radio, which says a lot lol....

Kia ora Skyhook!

I'm actually a Filipino born and residing in hong kong but im studying in new zealand.. i've been in there for 4 years already and now i consider it as my home. I used to live in new plymouth and i'll be moving to wellington next year for uni.!
new zealand rocks!!! i cant even wait to go back because all my friends are there and i miss them heaps!

The mint chicks is one of the best NZ bands signed under flying nun records and they rock!

most of the Flying nun bands are wicked!

u should visit New Zealand in January because its the 2008 big day out and most cool NZ bands are playing! (what a pity that i can't go)

haven't really paid any attention to hong kong music, not my type! :P
