Hiring freeze

Hi,

I am moving to HK in early 08, just wondering about the current job market.

Given the trouble in the banking sector, is there indeed a hiring freeze right now? I heard that from a recruiter.

Does everything slow down during Chinese New Year ? Would it make sense to wait until after the holidays to start looking.

BTW, I'm in IT looking for work in MNC.

Thanks for any comments.

Hi Fat boy, I work in IT over here and although some banks do have hiring freezes, a large number are expanding into Asia and the market is pretty buoyant in HK..best time to look would be after xmas and the bonuses are paid..what sort of work you looking for?
