Talking South Island School

Hi,

I'm thinking of applying for a job at South Island School, but I can't find an awful lot of information on it. Does anyone know anything about it - does it have a decent reputation, for examole?

Thanks for your help.

Kay.

Kay, my two cents.

SIS is a part of the ESF network of schools. The ESF is a very well known and reputable organisation as far as education in Hong Kong.

I'll let others who probably know more about the school step in and answer your queries.

Wink Info of South Island School

Okay. Straight to the point. I'm a nice kid, and I came across this thread so I made an account to fill you in for the details.

South Island School is located @ 50 Na Fung Road

There are three main blocks and one 'other' block in the school.

They are as such: Da Vinci block (D), Ching Ling Soong block (C), Stephen Hawking block (S), and the 'other' is the Sport block (Sp).

There is a newly opened technical support room on the third floor of the C block, but although in general the staff there helps fix and do the techie stuff, it is really a Mac support room.

South Island School has a new laptop program which will bring students and teachers closer to the world of technology and to allow them to do work and explore 'out of the box'. Macbooks can be purchased from outside or inside the school, but if Windows laptops are required, you have to get it yourself.

In the Stephen Hawking block, the main subjects learnt there are Science, Design Technology, Food Technology.

In the Ching Ling Soong block, the main subjects learnt there are Religious Studies, Geography, History, English, ESOL, Learning Support (not a subject), Ecobus.

In the Da Vinci block (by far the best block, newest block, including best toilets), the main subjects learnt are Art, Music, Maths, Textiles, French, Spanish (German too, I think-I'm not there yet), ICT (computers).

In the Sports block, there is a swimming pool, sports hall (gym).

In between the conjoined sports block and Ching Ling Soong block, there are the drama studios and assembly hall.

Another new place is in the Ching Ling Soong block, on the 6th floor...the IB center. This is for the senior students and teachers.

The school website will provide you more information if you haven't already been there:
www.sis.edu.hk

Hope this little bit of information helped!
I'm a Year 8 student in SIS, so I know what I'm talking about

-Chris

P.S. Kay, if you need more info, feel free to add me on MSN...christophertsang@hotmail.com
Just remember to send me a pm along with the 'Add contact' invite so I know who you are...coz I delete people I don't know

Being the geek that I am I actually went to look for that - there doesn't appear to be a teacher called "Kay" on the staff at SIS.

Our young friend is neither too late nor too early, for it is said in the good book [I forget which] that when the student is ready the master will appear.
So fear not young whippersnapper, if your time is now and you have been virtuous and true, the noble Kay will indeed appear in your life to guide you to the next chapter
