Hi im new to this so dont eat me if i do something wrong.

ok here is a few things to clear up before i start the questions.

ok i was born in Hk and therefor have a HK Id smatcard and can leave and comeback to HK, so im a resident. i moved away to the UK in 2002/3 and studied their i am planning to move back to HK.
when i do move back to HK me and the help of my parents have planed out what is to expect but here is a list of things that do not have to be mentioned as i do not have problems with the following.
1) accommodation (is not a matter)
2) job (got that sorted For me)
3) money

BUT here is the question i been wanting to ask.
-Background- i have a Gf that has agreed to move away with me. (it aint a last min thought ) we have been together for 3 1/2 years and she knows my plan and have discussed it seriously for the last year that she wants to come she is 21 and im 20 so were Young, she is a uk resident to.
i would just like some information on how could we do this. i know for a job she need qualifications here are a list of what she does have:
Lvl 1-3 NVQ qualification on Child care
Lvl 1-2 NVQ in Health and social care
lvl 1 NVQ in Hair and Beauty.

if these qualifications are not enough then im happy to stay the extra years in the UK so she can gain the right qualifications if necessary.

if their is any information on how she can move away with me it would help us alot!

I really doubt that those qualifications alone would be sufficient to get her an Employment Visa.

Simplistically, the best way for her to come over here would be for her to learn Cantonese (that level of job is going to require Cantonese in the vast majority of cases) and marry her (so that she has a dependant visa which allows her to work at anything).

You don't need to get married to get a dependent visa. I am from the UK and my partner is from HK, I have applied for a dependent visa without being married and got it, so that should not be a problem. Get your girlfriend to do a TEFL (i-to-i.com) and working experience before planning the big move. Hope it all plans out well!

I think this is the first such case of this that has ever been reported here in many, many discussions so I'm sure there would be many grateful people if you could share with us some more details of how you managed to achieve this. The Immigration Department website (and for that matter the law of the land) is quite explicit on this question.

If this is possiable this, this idea is Great but i would like more light sheded on this please

other then that she will have to keep studying and try and apply for a ESF school as a teacher assistant when she get the Right Grades.
and marrage is out of the Qustion for long while i guess.

But if the dependent visa way is possiable i would like to know in detail on how this can be accomplish.

i found something on the net that might have some relation to A post made by semUK.

as i was looking up on different type of visas i came across this site (irantour.org/hong-kong/hongkong.html)

and under the Spouse or Partner section their is a bit on Dependant Visas but if u read on their is a bit for defacto relationships which i think means along the lines of live together as a couple and are not married; but how ever this is still a Pro-long Visitor Visa not a Dependant Visas. so is this what you mean semUK ? please read the section. on the site i posted above^^ just incase i got something wrong but still under this Pro-long Visitor Visa she will not be able to work am i correct?

A Extended Visit visa is a different thing. One or two people in unmarried but long term relationships (kids etc) have reported managing to get one of those, BUT they don't allow the holder to work.

I'm with everyone else on this, I have never heard of a dependent visa being given to non-married couples and in fact it was made quite clear to me that this was not possible by the immigration department. Apart from Sem anyone else ever heard of it?

I suspect like a lot of things, it may be purely down to ImmD discretion. I have never heard of it before, but then again my kids got their DV in one day (I had to wait 2 weeks), which is also pretty rare.

I won't say that semUK is wrong, but even so, people shouldn't rely on this information to base their entry into HK on. If you can get a DV in this way I would expect it to be in the most rarest of cases.
