I luv you guys... PDLM's "imaginary friends", Skyhooks wry wit and MS@HK's "giant fairys", we could form a church of the irreverent, I'll be the pastor. LOL.

Its OK to be tolerant but should we allow them to kill teaching evolution in schools. The problem with the theory of evolution, is the 'theory' part. Creationists figure it means 'myth' instead of how scientists mean it: a well substantiated explanation of some aspect of the natural world that explains the evidence; an organized system of knowledge that survives experimantal testing. Scientists should get smart and just change it to the "Law of Evolution?" an be over and done with it. "Intelligent" design indeed.

Thanks Zen, I think we did a pretty good job of turning this religious debate into something a bit more interesting than the OP was originally anticipating... And not one drop of blood shed .

Also Zen, I can't speak for America, but in Australia, New Zealand, the UK and I am pretty sure Canada too, the evolution theory is part of the education syllabus...

It does suprize me that the USA, which built its power via ( German /Russian based ) scientific discovery, ignores Darwins theory of evolution. That can't be true ?

Go for it, you are fun my friend. Hey, there doesn't seem to be many other religions posting here anyway.

Lets not forget this one.

No harm intended to Atheists, John Safran points the finger at all of us - so we can all laugh together. The exorcism episode I can't seem to find, that is the only one which Safran does not seem to get the upper hand with his humor.

This Morman video is hillarious.
Actually, the series that John Safran did about religion (John Safran Vs God - what else was it ever going to be called) was not only very funny, but very informative and he did have a lot of good things to say. If memory serves me correctly, he might have even had a voodoo spell reversed, that was cast on him many years ago by a disgruntled ex-girlfriend.

After this series he teamed up with Father Bob, who he met during his Catholic piece, for a radio spot on Triple J in Australia. It was very informative and Father Bob was a great sounding board to Johns questions, humour and they made some great radio, albeit for a short time.

tol·er·ance
1. a fair, objective, and permissive attitude toward those whose opinions, practices, race, religion, nationality, etc., differ from one's own; freedom from bigotry.
2. a fair, objective, and permissive attitude toward opinions and practices that differ from one's own.
3. interest in and concern for ideas, opinions, practices, etc., foreign to one's own; a liberal, undogmatic viewpoint.

John Safran vs God: Episode Eight - Exorcism

Eventually found the John Safran exorcism. This at the very least is something which culturally I knew blew many of my Australian friends minds if nothing else. After seeing his humor, as informative as it is, this clip is something else.

Christian things from America have this kind of American Christian thing about them which I admit I find culturally hard to swallow, regardless, check the clip. (I am sorry if I offended some American Christians, it is just a culture difference).

No, that is not true.

I think Safran in the atheist clip summed up the argument against this very clearly. Why state as a matter of fact that the big bang/evolutionary argument is scientifically proven when almost no one can explain it fully and when it is still full of holes. For example, what came before and therefore created the big bang? Creationism may be whacko to many, but the scientific argument is also way out there in terms of probability and the evolutionary theory is still be rewritten and modified so it can not be a law. The atheists belief in science is almost as much based on faith as Christian's is on the bible.

Science clearly, but there is a major step from explaining how a plane stays in the air to explaining the creation of the universe. The first is based on scientific law (or probably a combination of them, don't ask me I am just glad the bloody thing stays up there) and the second is a theory.

That was the point I was making. Claiming scientific theory as a scientific fact that disproves all other theories is not scientific.
