Organized religion always ends up getting people killed in the name of God. Personally, I think Buddha, Allah, Jesus, Vishnu, etc. are all the same guy. Just marketing properly for different demographics.

gift grace - vs - merit earn

BTW, I really don't care what religion people are, as long as they treat others the same way they would want to be treated.
they and every beast, according to its kind, and all the livestock according to their kinds, and every creeping thing that creeps on the earth, according to its kind, and every bird, according to its kind, every winged creature. They went into the ark with Noah, two and two of all flesh in which there was the breath of life. (Genesis 7:14-15 ESV)

Animals by their "kinds" are different from calling animals by their species. A dog is a kind of animal, a great dane is a species of dog. Aside from the geographical evidence of the Ark itself.

I don't see how there can be any religious 'I am smarter then you' because I was smart enough to choose, or believe, or not believe. If God chooses and calls people, how can anyone boast over what is a gift or a grace, and not a merit or something we earn.

Exactly. And what about ducks? They wouldn't really have much need for an Ark would they?

fundamental to what?

I am so curious to hear what Buddhists, Muslims Christians and others say (I know Atheists / Agnostics are ruling the camp). I know as a Christian there doesn't seem to be a demographic, there are adherents from all Nations who are willing to lay down their life, to carry a gospel (which many of you say is foolish, I am not going to try and speak against that).

I know of Christians having their head cut off in Indonesia, being shot and left for dead in Laos and still being tortured in the mainland (I love the mainland, I am not speaking against the Country I love). North Korea all who fled their torutre camps report the most horrendous torture reserved for Christians yet they do not fight back but as they are taught, 'lay down their life willingly'.

Fundamentalists are not fundamental in zeal to be fanatic in social ostracism, but to fundamentally hold to the teaching they received just like anyone who holds to a teaching received from anywhere. If it is fundamental to lay down your life and not take others, you are fundamental to do that if you are taught to. If it is fundamental to obey a teaching which takes the life of your enemy, then that is fundamental and the judge for them over right or wrong is not society but their teaching. You need to look at the teachings of the various religions to make clear distinctions.

Oh, don't even start me on catapillers, worms, llamas, sloths, dingoes, snakes and scorpions.

Also, what happened to Aborignal Australians, Eskimos, American Indians, Maoris, etc, etc, etc.

But, as I said, the Bible does make a great read. I do recommend it for anyone.

Like was the point of my post, Australian Aborigionals are a sub-species, not a seperate "kind". They are "man", as are Eskimos, Maoris and Native American Indians. If you follow your geography, history, linguistic research you will see there is a flow of where they come from. Nearly everyone agrees Native American Indians are of Mongolian decent for example. A Dingo is a dog, a sub-species of a kind.

The Bible (being the key text we are talking about) is not anti micro evolution, while it does not agree with Darwin style "macro" evolution. I would be curious to hear from other texts, I know even Ancient Chinese texts have flood and Ark stories similar to The Bible, which suggests some historic factualness.

a break gimme pls

I have never understood the point of such threads other than getting pple riled up .....relegion works for you, fine , be happy quit shoving it in my face. The best ideas need little marketing...

as our favorite terrorist Arafat once said ....all religious conflict comes down to the question , "who has the best imaginary friend?"....

also what i find rich is 'traditionally' religious people ridiculing stuff like Scientology...( haha we are not descended from aliens silly ....we were put here by a big bearded man living in the sky somewhere !!)

and yes the force continues to run strong.

1. Everyone has an opinion
2. It is interesting and challenges our thoughts to consider others beliefs.
3. I think we learn about each other by learning what drives us individually.

Therefor I think these threads are good fun. We want to talk 'tolerance', but tolerance will listen to what others say even if they disagree and make a defense for their view.

It's OK wor~
