Apart from special programs mentioned above, there are regular annual Diwaliballs separately arranged by Sindhi samaj, Marwadi samaj and Gujarat Samaj. They allow Samaj members as well as guests and usually they have a nice get together with 4-5 course dinner and live music with some famous singer from India. This year Abhijeet is coming for Gujarat samaj, not sure about other Samaj's arrangement.

Berry... Indians dont call westerners gweilos... Hahaha.. FYI... There is a similar common term they refer to is 'Gorre Log' simply means 'White people' without any offence, of course.

terms of endearment

Surely the term of choice is 'firangi'? Or have I been away from Hindoostan too long?

Locally I have heard people of a lighter shade of pale being called 'makro/makri' though this may just be a Parsi thing.

Curryandlager @ $600 does seem rather appealing whatever your race.

So when exactly is diwali this year?
