visa dilemma

OK...here is the dilemma...i have applied for a dependant visa for myself and my son, however the immigration asked to to produce another copy of my sons birth certificate with our names on it..and they say we also dont have very much money in the bank(although we have savings of £7,000 GBP, and we have no rent etc to pay for when we get to hk.)My husband is a fresh graduate and will get a job when we get there. The visa has already been with the immigration dept for over 6 weeks, and i leave to go to hk in about 2 weeks, which means i wont have the visa before i arrive, which has me very worried as my return ticket is longer than the six months im entitled to.I dont wanna get stopped at the airport!!Will they question me??

Anyone had anything like this happen to them? Please reply, thankyou!

I would not worry about the return ticket too much.

As the primary employment visa holder your husband will have to convince immigration that he can support his dependants.

does that mean if i enter hk before my visa is granted then do i need to go out of hk, and re-enter again to make my visa valid? Has anyone else entered hk whilst their visa was being processed? (im a british citizen allowed to stay 180 days)

I'm confused - who is it that you are dependent on? Is your husband a Permanent Resident? As I read your post he doesn't have a job yet so you can't be dependent on him through him having an employment visa...

I applied for my dependent visa after entering HK. I had to supply a written explanation as to why I did not apply from outside HK. You shouldn't have any problems.

No - because I am sure with a ticket dated that long that the departure date is flexible so you can change the date on the ticket if necessary. HK Immigration have always seemed very reasonable IME.
