sorry to interrupt you monologue , but how do you speak cantonese on a forum ? yale system with accents doesnt work. yale system with number is weird. I guess Chinese would not be appropriate here, and fake English transcription like in the MTR only teaches people the wrong thing.e.g. Does anyone know why the English decided Wohnggok should be Mongkok ?

It used to be Mong Kok (as in Mango) but property developers changed it to a more auspicious sounding name (mong is a bit like sei mong and all). The English name did not change.

there are plenty of BBCs or ABCs (british/american born chinese) who speak some or fluent Cantonese. just hit the bar and u should be able to meet a handful of them. but if u are terribly cute, then i can ask my friends to see if they'd be interested in practicing it with u.
