ADSL with Static IP

Hi,

Does anyone know if there any ADSL Internet Service Providers that provides a static IP address for home users (non business plan)?

Thanks,
Mathew

I am pretty sure NETVIGATOR ( PCCW ) ADSL is static, as I checked my ip online not long ago, and it was the same as what was displayed when we first connected with them, a few years ago.

In theory it should be a dynamic IP upon login, but seems it isnt.

PCCW's IP is not static.
It rotates if you log-out for more than one hour (usualy), as the lease for the IP is 1hour to 1day default.
But the funny thing is, i have one days lease but my friend next door has 1hour for the same package. so seems like they dont really re too much about their config.
one day is much better if you ask me, since there will be less DHCP requests bouncing around on the net.

Then explain to me why when I check online what my visible IP address is , it has remained the same IP address since 5 years ago ?

It's not dynamic IP in our case, and we have lived in 4 different locations in HK over the years, nothing to do with the building hubs.

Why does our visible IP address not change, if Netvigator/PCCW is meant to be a "dynamic" IP ?

Netvigator is dynamic IP unless you pay for static IP. If you're constantly connected of course it will not change, and if disconnected it really depends on how much of a lease the dynamic IP addresses are set up for.

One possibility would be that you have a proxy set up in your browser. What does the IP address reverse lookup to?
