| | | Kebab / falafel etc. in Island East I've been around for a short while and haven't seen anything that resembles a kebab or falafel yet around Island East (Quarry Bay / Tai Koo / Sai Wan Ho). Anybody spotted any muslim/middle eastern/turkish places somewhere there? | |

| | Couldnt tell you about HK island east, but Ebaneezers is about the closest thing you will find that resembles the food that you're after. http://www.ebeneezers.com/Page.html They do deliver btw. I am really craving the Greek eqv of a lamb kebab, a souvlaki like there is no tomorrow, but sadly in Hong Kong nobody sells them. Whats in a Souvlaki for the uninitiated: Lamb marinated in garlic, lemon juice, oregano, white wine, rosemary, coarse ground pepper, served on pita bread with tomatoes, sweet red onions and tzatziki (cucumber, yogurt, garlic sauce)..
It might be an idea to visit GREAT ( an international supermarket division of Park n rob )at Pacific Place ( admiralty ) and buy some pita bread, some lamb and buy all the ingrediants and make your own authentic version at home, ( Lamb pieces wrapped up in silver foil with the herbs) and cooked in a frying pan with the the lid on. Crude but it should work out, even in a tiny kitchen. Once the meat is cooked, toast your pita bread in the pan and add houmos which you can buy at Great, tomatos onion and knock yourself out .

| | | Ah, damn it, is it so that south Chinese in general don't really like to eat lamb/mutton? I guess I indeed need to learn to make my own kebabs etc... and teach the helper to do the same. | |
