Asian Markets in Nose Dive

As of 3:30 pm today, all Asian stock markets were DOWN BIG TIME, with HSI off 4%. Is anyone on here keeping watch? It looks like a large dip coming before end of year.

Any comments?

The HSI is still up 27% over 3 months, and 46% over 12. It could drop another 5000 and I'd still be happy with the 12 month gain...

Hear hear. Glad to see the Hang Seng is correcting.

Its high value was beginning to get very worrying.

I hope this doesn't become one of those 'scaring people into selling stocks' threads like we had in August (when the market briefly dropped below 20,000 and some people on this forum made it sound like it was the end of the world). Then Beijing dropped the rumor of the 'through-train', the HK market went crazy and now it's time for a healthy deflating of the bubble. It's happening in a controlled manner so far with very little panic and let's keep it that way ...

Exactly what i thought.

Redwriter, if you cry wolf often enough, you will be correct eventually.

Todays trading was hardly exceptional.

Anyone and everyone has been predicting a "correction" for the last two years (at least). The fact is, if you had stayed out of the market for the last two years, or even the last year, you would have lost money. If you buy quality stocks, you will be ok. PDLM had it correct - even if the market does correct by (insert your percentage here) you will be ok.

... back to normal life....

I only reported what I read about the Asian Markets. I do not play the stocks, never have. All my investments were in land and gold. They paid off nicely. Just wanted to pass along what I read. Seems everyone takes it TOO seriously.

Reply to PIN, I invested in land, through a company in Canada, and it is called land banking. Land is a good investment, of course depending on where it is, but the company Walton in Canada buys large amount of land in growth areas, and as the Canada land is near Edmonton, it is oil rich, and also prime investment property. I got about 35% increase in first year.

So, is land a good investment: depends on where it is and how you get it.
