One way ticket and tourist visa

Hi all
I am going to start work in hk and my company is in the process of applying for work visa for me. but I would like to enter HK before the work visa is approved as a tourist (am Australian citizen, which allows stay in HK for 3 mths).

So my question is - is it possible for me to enter HK with just my Australian passport, with a ONE WAY AIR TICKET?? (my company only reimburses one way, rather than return ticket).

Any input is appreciated! Also, anyone knows where I can find more info on it?

Thanks!

It is very, very rare for a tourist from somewhere like Australia to be asked to show a return ticket at HK Immigration (especially, regrettably, if white). The problem you are much more likely to have is with the airline - many of them are getting very picky about not letting you check in unless you can show them that you have whatever immigration requires where you are going.

A solution could be to buy a cheap Airasia ticket from Macau to somewhere. Airasia allows name and date changes for a small fee if you find someone to go.
