Deals on pots and pans? I recently moved into a flat with an induction stovetop. Over the past few weeks I've been out shopping for pots and pans that work on this, and ouch -- they're bloody expensive! I have a hard time justifying US$60 for one simple pot. I've tried the usual suspects - Wing On, Ikea, Sogo and some others for decent prices on pots and pans, and haven't come up with much. Any advice? Where else might I try looking? Or... should I simply accept that I'm going to spend upwards of US$400 for a bit of metal?

Try Jusco. or a store that is doing a promotion ( using an induction hob ). The cheaper ranges of aluminum based / non stick pots and pans can work if they have the flat plate on the bottom - ours are dimpled. In Jusco the department has promo staff, so get them to try it on the hob to see if it activates. Some cheap ones don't, mainly because the have ring grooves on the base and its breaks up the induction field. You don't need expensive imports to work on these things.

Japan Home had a promotion recently for a set of Tefals... I don't know whether it's still on. Otherwise Ikea has a cheap set of teflon pots and pans!
