After talking to loads of Sai Kung fans was seriously considering a move up there for some cleaner air. THEN I looked closely at the API website and discovered that TAP MUN way up in Sai kung regularly gets worse ambient (not roadside obviously) pollution readings than places on the Island !! I have no idea why this is.Has anyone else ? Perhaps there is just no escape...............

yep, it's true. HK is so small it is impossible to avoid the pollution unless you do a Michael Jackson and sleep in an oxygen tent (and even then you would need to import the oxygen).
