A little advice needed before i get started on my move.

Hi,
Im engaged to a HK resident that i met while she was studying in the UK,we plan to marry in HK and live there.
The dilemma i have is with regard to myself finding work and the working visa.Is it better that we move to HK and get married 1st after which i will look for a job on a dependancy visa or is it better that i apply for jobs while im still in the UK and get a sponsored visa?.I am in sales here in the UK and dont have a "skill" as such or a degree,is work going to be hard to come by? and what careers would people like me normally take up?

Any advice would be a great help as this is something that i guess some people here may have been through and may know a plan thats the best way to get the ball rolling regarding the move.
Thanks in advance and congrats on a great site.

Im also looking into taking the TEFL course so that i have basic training in this area and have a starting point to get myself by.

Does anyone have an estimate of the pay expected for a English teacher at this level working full time in primary level?

Thanks again.

If you get a working visa it is employer specific. However, a dependants visa will allow you to work for anyone. So getting married is the way to go.

Agree with FlatHunter. Get married and get the Dependent Visa. It will make you more attractive to employers who will see stability in your situation here, and it's less work for them, as arranging a work visa is alot of hassle for a company (especially a language centre which is where you would likely find work).

If you're planning on living here long term, I would start working on a degree here ASAP as having only TEFL will likely limit you to a learning centre with crappy hours and few holidays (and probably weekend work).

You might approach HK20000/month with TEFL/TESOL full time at a centre, but keep in mind you might have Mondays off and work weekends.
