| | | Restaurant Recommendations Goodfood,
How about recommending some new restaurants to us? Tell us where are the cute waiters for a girls night out? Oh, and the food should be good too.

| | | Good good. The girls are now graduating from their "ladies chai sessions" into night outs with cute waiters .
Well can't really help you with the cute waiters bit, but here's a quick list of my favourite eating places in HK
For the best cantonese dim sums: Kwai Yu on Elgin street. Small basic yum cha joint, no English sign, no English spoken, not visted by expats or the hep types, but the most fantastic fundamental dimsums - Ao yo (beef balls) , suimai (prawns) , pai quat (spare ribs) , har gau (shrimp), char siu bau ( pork buns) . The waitress moves around with the dim sum steamers and screams out the names. You just open the lids and point. Can have a feast for $50. Starts at 5 am in the morn and dimsums are over by 9.30 am.
Other good dimsum places: Victoria city in wanchai and City Hall in Central
Fancy cantonese food: Yung Kee on Wellington Street and Luk Yu on Stanley street
Sichuan: Mme Chau's on D'Aguilar street in LKF. It's her house and you eat what she cooks. Deadly stuff. Unforgettable.
Spanish/french/dutch: Gypsy Cafe and Orange Tree by the escalator
Good provencal French food: Le Fauchon and Le Tire Bouchon in Soho
Great Malaysian food: The Malaysian Place in Rats Alley
Thai: haven't yet found one I like. Common occurrence if yiu are a frequent visitor to Bangkok.
Japanese: wasabisabi in Times square, Inagiku in I forget where
Indian: 15 Conduit Road. Never had Indian food outside.
Russian: Ivan the Kozak in Petticoat Lane by the escalator. Also Balalaika in Knutsford Terrace where they have a walk-in vodka room with 100 different vodkas kept at minus 20.
Running out of time now, so will continue with this list later. Meanwhile other pl join the bandwagon and recommend yur favourite places

| | | Goodfood,
Try Thai Basil in Pacific Place. While its not 100% thai (no green curry) its pretty damn good fusion-food.
Also, we've had very good luck with the Thai food at the Sweet Basil on Lyndhurst Terrace.

| | | I was expecting a wisecrack about the "chai" sessions.
We used to have monthly girls nights pre-Dhruv days, I think its time to revive them.
Thanks for the list of restaurants. Shame you haven't noticed the waiters at any of these places.

| | | I second that recommendation re Ching Yeung Lau Seafood for dim sum. If you drive, you can get decent elevator parking just behind on Stanley St .
And where, goodfood, might Rats Alley be? | | Tools | Search | | | | | Rate This Thread | | | All times are GMT +8. The time now is 05:33 AM.
