| | | HSBC, again, grrrr A moan about our fav bank, again!!!
So went in to deposit US$1,100 today.
Am told, oh sorry, the maximum daily deposit limit is US$1,000. You can deposit the extra US$100 but there is a service charge.
Grrrr!!! So now they want to charge me to put money in their bank.

| | | In foreign currency? Do you really think that's unusual? Do you think you could deposit HK$ cash into a US bank account at all?
Why is this is any way specific to HSBC?

Why is this is any way specific to HSBC? | Well they advertise the foreign currency account service as one of the great benefits of PowerVantage.

| | | You can always transfer it instead. I transferred 15,000 pounds the other day (about 31,000 of the American Monopoly money) into HSBC no problem. | |

| | | PIN - Many of the banks charge for local currency deposits over a certain amount too. | |

Grrrr!!! So now they want to charge me to put money in their bank. | So, put in the thousand and save the hundred for the next time you are stateside. We had a similar problem in May and the extra money was spent by July. It isn't like you can survive off the interest on $100.

| | | Or, deposit $1000, ask them to change some notes to HK$ and deposit those. | |

| | | Can I have a little moan about HSBC too?
I just had a letter congratulating me on my new "alternative wealth management solution that better suits my needs" - yes I am being downgraded to "SmartVantage" unless I can pony up $200k by next month.
How exactly does removing the only services I really use (manned phonebanking, stock order hotline) "better suit my needs"?
HSBC is a business, I don't have a problem with that. But I'd just rather have a straight talking message. "You're too poor, now p**s off!" not something dressed up as an "exclusive offer".
Maybe I'll bring it up at the press con today... :-) |
