New to HK Hi everyone! I'll be moving to HK in just over a month with my husband for his job. We're 29 yrs old, no kids (yet!) and from NYC, and I am really interested in meeting some new friends! I know there are tons of posts like this out there, but I'm really curious to hear your stories. Has it been easy to meet friends? Do you ladies get together weekly/monthly? Which neighborhoods do you find most interesting to live? Most importantly, does anyone want to meet for coffee /drinks??? I'd love to hear from you!

Hello, and welcome (well, I guess in a month!). It is dirt simple to meet people in this city...all my friends I've actually met through this website. Tons of events to join up so keep your eyes posted on meet and greet threads. It's not making friends that is the problem...it's keeping them. People come and go so often in this city. It's a wonderful place though, and I often describe my experience here as a series of random events. I moved here six months ago with my boyfriend. There are several threads here that meet monthly or oftener (Ladies dinner, expat wives). I've tried to organize the occasional event, but gave up after several failed attempts, so now I just join the occasional dinner and such. I live in Kennedy Town which is fairly oldschool, but it has some very cool restaurants and a lovely view of the harbour. Personally, I dislike Tsuen Wan...I think it's because that is where I work, haha. Central is a blast at night, and TST is crazy, I just love it. Always up for a coffee or a glass of white anytime! Good luck with your move to HK!

Check out the American Women's Association, also. Over 50% American, but plenty of other countries represented. You can google their website.

Hey Newbieexpatwife, I'm from NYC too. I'm 26 and moved here with my fiance 3 months ago. In terms of neighborhoods, I guess it really depends on what you're looking for? But be prepared for smaller spaces. Everything here is miniature compared to the States. Good luck with your move and contact me if you want to have coffee sometime.

Hello there, welcome to HK! My husband and I (we are both 30, no kids yet either) moved here from NYC about 3 months ago, so we are kinda in the same boat. The geoexpat forum is great, you can definitley join many events and meet people. Where will you be living in HK? We live in west Kowloon. PM me if you want to meet up for coffee or drinks! Or we can plan a drinks thing with some newbies to HK here. Any interests?

Hello NewbieExpatWife and everyone else, I just moved here a week ago from LA/NY. My boyfriend and I are the same age (late 20s) and no children, too. I would love to get together with all the newbies, too.

Also New! I just moved here about a month ago from NYC with my husband (I'm 31, no kids either) and I grew up in LA, so hopefully we'll all have something in common! I would also love to meet up for coffee/drinks if others are interested.
