experience setting up tutorial centre?

i'm currently in the process of trying to set up a playgroup and tutorial centre.

i've read through the pages and pages on the edb website. i've emailed them directly with some of my questions.

i'm hoping that someone here has experience doing this and might be persuaded to offer their sage advice to someone struggling to make heads or tails out of the various legislation.

thanks in advance!

carang, the legislation differs quite considerably depending on what you are planning to do and also depends on class sizes, hours of teaching, etc. In some cases you do not need to register at all, but i need to look into that again and let you know!

I've read somewhere that if the whole center tutor 12 or less student a day then you don't need to register.

so far as i can tell... if i have less than 8 students at one time & less than 20 on any given day, then i don't need to register. the problems arise from these points:

1) in order to make any decent money, i need to have more than 19 students in a day, especially saturdays/sundays
2) there is different leg. for "playgroups/child care centres" than for tutorial schools...i want to run playgroups in the mornings and early afternoons then switch to language lessons in the late afternoons early evenings....so, as far as i can tell, i need to comply with both sets of leg. AND be registered as both...
3) i only ever plan on having 5-7 students at one time...do i still need separate toilets for male & female???
4) if i register as a 'school' then there are some exemptions for qualifications etc. BUT if i have to register as both, then do those exemptions still apply???

these are just a few of my questions... is there anyone out there that can help me, please???

i appreciate your efforts!
