Visa for My Girlfirend Hi, I am moving from Amsterdam to HK in a month. My employer already arranged me a working Visa, and we tried to apply for a visa as depndant for my girlfriend. However, because we are not married, she did not get her visa (here in Amsterdam, if you register that you are living together you get the same rights as a married couple). Someone told me that my next best option is that she comes to HK on a 90day tourist Visa and every 3 months we travel to Macau for example. Is that possible? We plan to travel at least every 3 months anyway. Do you have any other option for me? I earn enough to support both her and myself. One more thing - last time we went to Hong Kong as Tourists, we got a 14day visa. How can she get a 90days visa? Thanks.

You may search on this site and you will find many threads on the subject. In short, running to Macau/ China everytime may not help. If you really want her to be here with you for long time, dont go for those hectic and unsecured workaounds. Last edited by nivantj; 13-10-2004 at 06:02 PM.

And on the 90 day question it depends what passports you hold. The details are here: http://www.immd.gov.hk/ehtml/hkvisas_4.htm

Kiwi Girl Hi, I have been in HK for 2 years with my partner. As you probably know your girlfriend can't work without the visa It was differcult not working at first but we live in a great expat community and have really settled into life here in HK. I do think it is worth paying for your girlfriend to have international medical insurance as it can get quite costly if she ends up in hospital. We are not married so I have to depart HK every 3 months but let me asure you there is so much to see arround asia it is a wonderful place to do small trips. Also from central Hk its only an hour over the boarder to Shenhen where your girlfriend can shop for the day, have a wonderful massage or get her nails done. I go there often so have no problem in taking her there anytime. Good luck on the move. Regards Robyn

Many people do this, but the problem is every time you come back into HK you run the risk of being refused entry. I know someone personally who was told that she would be allowed only that entry and no more when they worked out that she had been in HK over 80% of the previous 3 years, each time on a 90-day visa. She now has to spend (I think) a year out of HK before they will let her back in.
