Gastro Pubs in Hong Kong?

Is there any thing in Hong Kong that comes close to what one would call a gastro pub in the UK?

After having suffered a couple of pub-grub like meals over the last week... I could see myself frequenting something that falls between a pub and a mid-range restaurant.

Definately not expecting Heston Blumenthal type quality from the Hind's Head ...

Frites sounds like it serves pretty decent food as well.

Krad - definitely on the list of places to check out.

Stevie - Would have never suspected that they would use the word "pub" in their description .. just figured it was a regular bar / restaurant.

I think the Pickled Pelican was aiming for that status but the two times we have eaten there we have been very disappointed. The nachos are downright disgusting- they are what a Happy Eater would serve if you asked for nachos!
Frites is across the road from our office- I also want to try it out.

guess gastropub is not a term used here much but the Phoenix has the feel, from the blackboard menu to the decent wine selection

Agree about Pickled Pelican - food is shocking, tastes like boil-in the bag.

Frites is very good but not cheap, worth trying the lunch menus in terms of good value

Well, it may be a gastro establishment that serves booze, but if it does not have an animal and / or adjective and / or ancient mode of transportation in the name -- I would not have classified it as a pub.

Looks like we need to do lunch @ Frites sometime next week.

i walked into Frites today (QRC), felt like I'd stepped into a wonderful London bar... it's a marvellous Belgian gastro pub, superb mussels too and some dangerous Belgian beers. A great spot.

798 Unit & Co. label themselves as a gastropub.

There is a branch on 12/F at Times Square.
