| | | Mui Wo Questions Just wanted some more input on living in Mui Wo. I read where a few people moved there from DB, and yet when I posed the question, most answers failed to satisfy me. I realize it is very small village, and will not appeal to most Expats. But, if some has lived there, and knows something about Mui Wo, please share it. My wife and I are considering moving there because it is quiet, cheap, and still accessible to Central. Would like to hear real experiences, and the pros and cons. Hope to get a better picture before moving.
Thanks |

What you should do is get cycles and go for a wander, take notes and when you return to Mui Wo go see a property agent.
There are plenty of places within 15 minutes Mui Wo with all the mod cons and if you are lucky a garden with an endless pool with a view of HK |

| | I went to Mui Wo on Monday. All the stores and most restaurants were closed. I think Monday is a day off. Hotel was empty, and very few people about. But I did see some flats for sell under $1 million, which is very cheap by HK standards. Also some rentals for $3-5K, most over 400 sq ft, and one house with car garage for $6K.
But talk about quiet, even the dead were talking about it. |

| | | Just caught your post. Do you live near the ferry, or in the village? My wife looked at Mui Wo several years ago and felt the ferry was too slow. Prices were good, but the place is so small. Are you retired or work? So how do you like living in Mui Wo? |

I am sure there is a few nice people around there, but its not the nice people we need to put up with, its the not so nice ones.
I wouldn't live there. |

| | | Thank you cyberience for information on Mui Wo. You are probably right, and I don't get along with European expats, so I would not enjoy living there. I do remember seeing many of them sitting around the waterfront drinking beer. I thought they were disgusting, and give a bad image to the Chinese. So I would skip the place. |
