Does anyone know the cheapest place for decent room in Macau Oct. 20th?

Im going to the basketball game at the venetian on the 20th. Does anyone know a cheap hotel that isn't filthy? Would like to stay overnight, its a waste to just day-trip it.

Thanks.

Anybody else going?

Try the Pousada De Mong Ha which is really nice but totally subsidised by the tourism dept as it is a training hotel.
Otherwise go to CTS and ask them- they'll book you a hotel room according to your budget: I did this once and they found me a great place for a couple of hundy.

you may be running our of luck

Macau hosts three events in Venetian at the same time (the other two, besides competition you want to go to, being Macau International Fair and Toys Fair) and Asian Games with athletes from 45 countries starting to arrive on 18th.

Rooms that used to be MOP300 now cost MOP900 for weekdays for walk-in customers.

The best bargain is to approach casino or nightclub promoters in Shun Tak Centre in Sheung Wan and get a bargain package deal with return trip jetfoil tickets and hotel room included. You may get as low as HKD500 for one day package in a 3-4 stars hotel.
