Permanent residence

I cant find any information about this and im sure its been asked and answered.

If i was in Hong Kong 1998 to 2001

then returned in 2007 would the years i completed go towards me earning permanent residence or do i need to complete another 7 years?

The 7 years has to be a single continuous period, so, unfortunately, the clock starts again.

Am glad you said that because I thought I was going crazy (probably am) because time just seems to fly by in HK in spite of long working hours. The weeks seems to fly by.

It seems to me that every thing moves faster in HK. Sometimes I could swear the clouds scurry across the sky quicker in HK than elsewhere.
