| Dog Boarding Hi Can you recommend a good dog boarding place? I tried the SPCA and they are fully booked over the next bank holiday and the entire Christmas period. I travel a lot so the dog will be staying there quite often and I'm a bit concerned that without knowing I'll be leaving him frequently in a not so nice place with people who might mistreat him - can you tell me your experiences and suggestions with the different boarding places? It would be ideal to find a place on the island but if they provide pick service then it doesn’t matter. Thanks for your help, Serge |

| Have heard good things about DB dog days. The dogs stay with a family. Can find the web site elsewhere in this forum. Or, if you're really gone a lot and have room, hire a helper. I had to leave my dog once when my helper was away and we used Ferndale Kennels and Cattery, which was also nice. http://www.ferndalekennels.com/ Either of these options would be much nicer than the SPCA, which although safe, does not provide much individual attention or exercise time for the dogs. | I personally do not like the SPCA boarding kennels in Wan Chai. We visited the facilities a few times, before and after the recent renovations. Apparently the dogs never get walked. Each dog goes out individually to the little deck 3 times a day for very short period of time, rain or shine. The cleaning lady said no more than 5 minutes each time. They pee and poo out there. None of the dogs get any human or canine interaction the whole time they are there. I don't think this is a humane way to board a dog. |
