Thailand - Krabi

Is the only way of getting to Krabi via Bangkok or Phuket? Any gd family hotels you would recommend there and any specialist Thai travel agents in HK? Thanks for any info

have stayed at Krabi thai village. in ah nang beach. Two big swimming pools, a short walk to the main area of town. pretty good beaches for kids to have a run around and cheap for all the day trip ping eg. snorkelling you might want to do. Hope this helps.

Yes, as far as I am aware those are the two options.
We (2 adults + 2 yr old) chose to fly to phuket and hire a car to take us to Krabi 2500BHT for 2-2.5 hour trip incl a bit of sightseeing.
We then took a long tail to Railay Beach, had a fantastic 5 days, relaxing, eating, walking, rockclimbing.
Ao Nang was ok, very tourist orientated and developed, pick your hotel carefully. We stayed one night only, for us that was enough in Aonang.

Worth a visit, Krabi is a beautiful location and so many boat trips to gorgeous islands.

We went to Koh Lanta last year and it was wonderful. we stayed at the Pimalai in a villa with plunge pool. http://www.pimalai.com/

We flew to Bangkok then onto Krabi with Thai airways where we where met at the airport and driven to the hotels pier for a boat transfer to the island.
It is a little bit boats trains and automobiles but it was well worth the journey.

IIRC there is a direct flight to Krabi from Singapore.

I'd recommend a local agent if you want stuff organised there (Seema- info@yourkrabi.com). She's British, and much more clued-in than most agents I've spoken to about the area.
