You need to find an employer who can convince immigration that
1) You have skills that they need
2) They cannot find those skills in Hong Kong
3) They will pay you current market rates for those skills

| | | firstly, thank you for all the responses. well, i know it is extremely tough to find an employment in hk for a foreigner and i am further on the losing end due to my status as a foreigner and fresh graduate without any working experience. anyway, i am trying my best and have started enquiring and doind researches and surveys online in the hope of finding some opportunities. i have visited hk several times last year and this year, i fell greatly in love with this place. i simply love the culture, the lifestyle and the quality of living. this city is so vibrant and energetic in many ways that i believe it never sleeps! such a great place and wonderland on earth, almost like a paradise. yea, i sound so exaggerated, but that is what i truly like and think of hk. well, i am trying and even if i don't get any employment opportunities in the end, it is still fine. another alternative is through aiesec internship program. but there are several weaknesses in such program. firstly, the matching process may take a long time and secondly, you might end up with no suitable matchings at all. in the end, it would be a waste of time and effort and resources. thirdly, an internship opportunity does not equal employment contract. yes, i know the odds are well stacked up against me, but hey, i am still trying. thank you in advance for all your replies and advices. cheers! | |

| | | You might want to start by looking at some masters / research options at Hong Kong Univ. Depending on your undergraduate (and honestly speaking how good you really are at what you do) you might be able to score a paying position with them. | |

| | | dear knowitall,
if i consider the masters or research options with the hk uuniversity, that will mean i have to fork out my further studies expenses there. honestly, my financial background is not very strong. but i will heed your advice and do more researches and surveys online. thank you for giudance. cheers and regards!

| | | dear nivantj,
a good suggestion, but i guess fate and luck has it that i have no suitors from hk! i don't know why i have such infatuation with hk. perhaps the grass is greener on the other side? i visited hk a couple of times, and i love almost everything about. i recall having almost 3 meals a day at cafe de coral, always having the same food because i cannot read in chinese, hence i have problems translating the menu from english to cantonese. i think the lifestlye is just great, people are warm and yet they keep to themselves until you really need their assistance. that is why i am so keen to get a job and stay in hk for several years. i have a place to stay in hk, so if only i can get a job...then it'll be icing to my cake!
cheers! | |

| | on the same boat Hey Pink Cadillac, we're on the same boat! I'm from Indonesia (but now in HK as a visitor) and wanting to work and live in HK! Yes, I'm so "Live it, Love it" : ) So, have you got any job? Oh God, I was almost dead with Cafe de Coral too, but luckily I found another place to eat, quite cheap and yummy. Where are you staying anyway? I'm in Causeway Bay.
