Additional income

Let me get this straight.

If you have a fulltime job but you earn some money from writing or the like (tantieme, freelance) and you pay it into your HK account, do you have to declare it as additional income. Do they frown upon it as a "second job"?

Also, still struggling to believe that my wife, who is an artist, will have to have her visa status changed from dependent visa if she sells things overseas.

Any clarification would be greatly appreciated.

If you are here on an Employment Visa then your wife can work without restriction. If she arrived in the period (2003-2006) when Dependant Visas were endorsed "not allowed to work" then she can simply go to Immigration to get the endorsement cancelled.

The only Dependants who still can't work are dependants on people here on Study Visas.

Thanks

Thanks PDLM. I always thought she would have to have her visa status changes. Never looked at it that carefully, but I don't think it says 'not allowed employment'

In any event, she arrived last month so that is outside the 2003-2006 threshhold..
