Not yet. Eventually. when there are more trained fighters that want to do it. They have a lot muay thai fighters and some grapplers now but not enough people that can do both well enough to fight mma. Trainng in MMA is a full time endeavor. Not many people can give up there job to train MMA fulltime. I know they had a exhibition two years ago. Last edited by mmatrainer; 22-09-2007 at 05:49 AM.

i dont know if there is something like a boxing commission or athletics commission like the US here to sanction fights....but I suppose it might work...i was going to take part in a KOTC event in SG last yr (first ever)...it didnt turn out too well due to organisation issues so all the fighters in my school pulled out, but even in a small country like that we managed to come up with enough competitors for 8 fights or so. There is a promotion in China now called Art of War and the event has been held a few times already, so i guess no reason why getting a crop of local figthers would be the stumbling block. The insurance, publicity, purse and venue etc I guess could use an experienced promoter

MMA fights in HK Thanks for the info. The promoter I know in the US who has successfully put on fights there is interested in bringing MMA cage fighting to HK. Not quite sure where he would start....? If anyone has ideas, pls let me know.

well if he prepared to make a loss the first few shows possibly, just to build up the franchise...or at least find a way to minimize losses/break even...I can only speak of the economics of the one in Sg based on the rough numbers i gathered: To get up the cage and rent the venue was about 15k USD. The purse for the fighters was about USD 10K (supposedly, but eventually there was none). He'd have to also provide for insurance and other misc. - I guess about 10k USD? that's 35k USD and I don't know what publicity costs here I've been to small MMA shows in Indiana and something like that attracted a decent crowd but not much (maybe 300 people? and this was like a recurring event with some guys who eventually went to the UFC). Supposing the first event charges 50 -100 USD a pop...you'd need to pull in something like 500 people at the gate to breakeven/turn some $. I could go on about this(don't know that much really)...maybe if he wants he could write to me or something to find out more....
