Tungchung Landlords! Hello, I will be working in Airport area. Which is the best place to find an 2BR apartment for the budget of HK$7000 (Tungchung, ParkIsland or DB)? Thanks in advance for all your valuable advise and suggestion.

Discovery Bay I doubt that you'll find much for that money, since real estate there has jumped up sharply, but you'll find a large percentage of HK's ATP's living there. Also, the next popular area for ATP's thats close to the airport, would be Siu Lam, the Gold Coast, Palatial villa's at the begining of Castle Peak road near the hospital has a dedicated shuttle to Tsing Yi, then you can make your way to the airport on the airport express train. Again I couldnt tell you what 7000 will get you as friends I know who live there live on a high seaview floor and pay a lot more etc... 7000 will definately get you something in the gold coast neigbourhood of Tuen Mun, the Gold Coast Hotel runs a dedicated shuttle bus to and from the airport for $30HKD, non hotel guests can and do use that shuttle to commute to the airport. Tsing Yi has a few airline staff living there, also due to being right on the main train line that gets you to the airport, but couldnt tell you what you can get for 7000. It should be possible though.. Tung Chung will find you a 2 bedroom apartment at the Carribean coast on the freeway side for $5500 from what i have heard, theres 100's of empty flats there. Handy to the airport express. Last edited by Skyhook; 19-09-2007 at 11:10 PM.

if you are a single, and you need to be close to the airport and possibly on call, Tung Chung is the closest. Discovery Bay would be one of the nicest area's to live, but its also about 50% more expensive to rent/buy there. Personally I'd rather live in DB between the 2 locations, but its all based on $$$. You could also consider Park island, i hear rents are about 8ish thousand a month, thats also close to the airport.

I too am currently looking into renting a place in TC. There are real estate agents there so you can just go over and ask to let you see the places. I would prepare to spend abut 6500 on a place. Check out www.gohome.com.hk to get an idea of the prices in the areas you're interested in. It is possible to get a place (Studio / one bedroom) in DB for $6500.

Tung Chung Rental price is hyped up?? Gohome.com.hk is not updated. In reality it is helpless. Do anyone know current market rate in TC area for 2BR flats? Very hard to get HK$7000 for 2BR in this area? Do the property agents hyped up the rental price?
