| | | Video Thread - Music that you'd rock to... The post by Skyhook about Midnight Oil got me wasting a fair bit of the last hour on YouTube.
Figured a thread about music that "defines you" would be a great thread to bring down corporate productivity across Hong Kong.
My favorites:
Eric Clapton - Cocaine .. one of the better guitar solos (not in this version though)
Sultans of Swing .. again a defining guitar solo.

| | Ha Ha this is great, thanks KIA, a moment of clarity of sorts, for us all ....
One of my all time favourite live bands, Australian formed Crowded House .
Man I miss open air live concerts like that, and talented singers/musicians.

| | This next one is a Melbourne parady, that generation X Melbournites will lyrically undertand. A band that I used to watch at the pub, and they still play a lot of the smaller more intimate venues till this day, a very independant group, known as : Things of stone and wood.
When I hear this song,
I think of drinking cappucino's with great mates at 4am, Sunday mornings at an after gig cafe called " the Hide Out in Fitzroy", enjoying a kebab on the esplanade in St Kilda, and a real pizza in Carltons Lygon Street. Stone the crow's, I do miss a few things about home.

| | Another band I really love live, which has a very distinctive LA kind of sound, is Steely Dan, absolutely tight as far as musicians go, very punchy. | |

| | Another favourite Oils song, recorded back in 1984 on the Red sails in the sunset album, " When the generals talk". I couldnt find an original clip on you tube, but it seems the songs timeless lyrics still hit a cord during todays geopolitical climate, 23 years on. Best played loud and hopefully with a good subwoofer/speaker combination rigged up.
