Looking for a studio in Wanchai/MidLevels

Hi,

Where should I look for to find a studio (300-400 sqf) in Wanchai/Mid Levels without having to deal with real estate crooks and pay the commission? Is there a website / billboard where people can advertize their flat? I'm also open to sublets.

I'm really tired of paying this 1/2 a month commission when there is absolutely no added-value provided when you deal with Midland or Centaline (filling a form and register with HK housing dept. is definitely not worth thousands of HKD)

Thanks!

hi, i agree, it can sometimes be a lot of money. their value is their speediness and reach really. try sending out e-mails to friends and work colleagues, this is sometimes a good way. or take a look at the several websites where people advertise (beware - both landlords and property agents have listings hehe).
also there are many many property agents here in hong kong, some good some not so good. your main gripe seem to be the commission fee - negotiate with them beforehand. they are all quite busy these days that you should be able to negotiate half of half a month.
good luck!

I own a studio flat in Wanchai near Pacific Place 3 (Admiralty MTR) but it has just been rented out for 2 years, with a 12-month break clause. Please watch out for the classifieds in geoexpat.com or PM me in one year's time if you need a (another) place by then. My terms are very reasonable and it is a direct deal without the need for agency commission for both sides.
