| HK Language & Cultural Barriers in the workplace Hi, I was wondering if some of the expats could tell me what kind of issues they've had with language and cultural barriers in HK. I'm in my early 20's and have recently had my eye on HK. I'm considering I-banking / Capital Markets in Asia. However, I can only truly read and write English. Have you guys found that although formal discussions are conducted in English, normal everyday interactions amongst co-workers to be spoken in Chinese? As well, what about cultural barriers? Also, is there any negative perception about expats in the office? And lastly, does the expat salary still exist, or has that gone away along with the British monarchy? Thanks. |
