| Do I have to pay commission??!! I am from the States and all my previous experience with rentals and property agents is taken care of by the property owner. I just signed a short-term three month lease for a studio. I assumed the property agent who I talked to represented the owner...but today I realized they were dealing with another agency. Do I have to pay commission to the agent? I did not sign anything agreeing to a commission and the guy never mentioned it. I paid two months deposit to the owner's agent today but if I had to pay commission wouldn't I have to do it today? I am now reading about paying 1/2 commission for agents and I'm freaked out now that I have to pay 1/2 month rent for a place that I'm living in for only 3 months??! |

| My experience has been that as a renter I have had to pay the agents commission fees as well as some gov't stamp tax plus the three months rent (1 months + last month + 1 month security deposit) Some neg. before hand whether or not they will pay agent fees and/or how much % of the agent fees they will pay. Some also only have to pay first and last months rent. |
