Umm, doesn't the nowTV cable box have the same outputs (RCA/S Video) as a regular cable box. Shouldn't it them be straight forward to hook up the outputs from the box into the inputs on the DVDR ???

Feed the now tv into your DVD recorder. Tune the DVD recorder to the now tv (you will only be able to see the active now channel which is controlled by the now box so has to be changed via that remote) as you do with any normal channel. Run your TV off the DVD recorder channels.

To record now tv you then have to switch the now box to the channel (BBC, Star, AXN etc) you want; keep the box on and set the DVD to record the now channel at the appropriate time.

You can't of course record two programmes from now running off separate now channels without switching your now box to the corrrect channel in between each recording.

Don't they have macrovision protection?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Macrovision

Not sure why I thought they did. Not that I've tried to record the programs....

On our Pioneer DVR-650HS HDD/DVD recorder, we just hooked up a S-VHS lead ( its supplied with the recorder and the Now TV decoder has one supplied they are black in colour and have 4 pins at each end if looking at the plug head on ) from the S-VHS output of the Now TV decoder to one of 2 S-VHS video inputs on the recorder, you'll also need to hook up the red and white RCA stereo leads from one of two RCA ( red and white ) audio outputs on the NOW TV decoder to your recorder for sound.

The Pioneer recoders record NOW TV content without any problems.

What brand of DVR do you have Steph ?

Know it all, could be right in saying that your particular player has a MACROVISON copy protection lock built in, at the moment of pressing recording, it brings a message on the screen saying unable to record Macrovision protected content or the like.

Have you tried recording anything to see if your player will infact work ?

With enough info from all concerned here, you should be recording very soon..

Fully Connected to record, dont forget to select that particular input on your remote control or DVR menu, so you can record through it.

Good luck

PS: S-VHS leads are also termed as S-Video lead/connections. On all 425line plus resolution video devices, they will identify the output/input as either S-Video or S-VHS, means the same thing, S-VHS pre dates DVD a now obsolete format, but the connection lives on..

Still looking for the connection cable!

Hi all,
Thanks for all answers, infos and pictures, wow!
The good point is at it appears faisable to you to record, so I still hope to manage!
In fact what you explain is what we wanted to try but our Thomson DVD record machine needs a peritel entry cable that we hadn't find yet.
I will let you know as soon as we get one!!
Stephanie.
