| | Ocean Park trip 14th October It's been too long since I've been to Ocean Park, so in my usual way I'm calling for a big group trip. The 14th seems a sensible date - it's not a holiday weekend or anything, but the Halloween stuff should be up and running. Personally, I want to see the pandas and the jellyfish exhibit and go on a ride or two, but the plan for the day would probably depend on who and how many turn up - hang in one group, or split up.
Unfortunately, they're putting their prices up on the 1st, so it'd be $208 (ish - their website is down right now) for adults, less for little ones, plus food/drink/travel for the day.
I'm not planning to book anything, so it'd be informal. Unless anyone has any particular reason to do it another day, all I'll do is call a time to meet at Admiralty, a time to meet at the park, and we can take it from there. I'm happy to give out my phone number for contact for anyone who doesn't know where they're going, gets there late, etc. I guess we'd be looking at about 11am at Admiralty, and 30-45 minutes later at the park...
Anyone interested? Young, old, families, newbies, old-timers, all welcome

Also, after some advice, I'm thinking about moving this to the evening of the 14th to catch all the (apparently) amazingly cool Halloween stuff which goes on in the evening sessions. If that makes a difference to the millions of people who are going to turn up, let me know... There is also a potential issue here with tickets - they sell them in advance all over the place, and I'm told they're going fast, so if I'm going to move it to the evening, I need to do it soon, and get people buying tickets.
As for the millions of people - well, not quite millions, but it's going to be more than just me and GAIA. I've also added it to Facebook and there are a few people there who've said yes, as well as a couple who I spoke to about it last night. Much as I enjoy spending time with GAIA, it's not going to just be the two of us

| | Melissa,
As I said, it was pointed out to me that during October, while they've got their Halloween stuff running, they run two sessions a day, at least at weekends. The park closes at 5pm-ish, then re-opens a little later for the evening session until midnight-ish, with extra attractions like haunted houses. I didn't know about it either...
That was the whole point of my question - to see if the evening session would be a problem for people, since it's apparently a better time to go

| | | if you are going during the day... GO EARLY!
i have annual passes for us and the kids. we've been 5 times in the past 3 weeks. the earlier you get there the better. head up to the top first then move on from there...forget the dolphin show, head to dolphin university instead. they don't do any tricks but you get much closer to them. we saw a vet giving an ultrasound to a pregnant dolphin last thursday. cool!
try to time going on the rides with the dolphin show, the queues are much shorter!
have fun! | |

| | | So... we are not going during the day - we're going in the evening. The park is open from 5:30pm to midnight for their Halloween special. I've just spoken to them, and they recommended booking online ASAP, preferably today, in order to secure tickets - and I can see that Saturday is already showing as sold out.
I am willing to book for people I know, or for people who can either get some money to me ASAP or make it really really clear to me that they are going to pay for the ticket whether they turn up or not - sorry, but I've had trouble with this sort of thing before, and it looks like it will be necessary to book.
