Found this note from a Greenpeace developer:

http://calypso.tux.org/pipermail/dcp...ch/000766.html

HK$300-500 a good range, down to HK$200-250 for an average contractor.

You should take local and regional rates into account. It's not fair to assume that high rates = good quality programming/code.

Kaen : might want to consider using www.rentacoder.com - there are a few good guys on there and you can test them out with smaller projects.

Is this business 101? We all know that more expensive doesn't always mean better quality, but supply & demand dictates that the better can charge more. Considering a field like web programming you need some method of filtering to meet a reasonable quality level and not break the bank. A simple search on google will reveal many thousands of coders from Eastern Europe and India tendering contract work, but you're not going to get a new MySpace for $17 either.

Wink

The reality is that I will not be actively seeking funding at this early stage of the start-up and HKD$300-500 will likely break the bank as I would be needing a couple of guys to work pretty much full time for 3 months or so. If u have done the math that works out to be HKD$48,000 - HKD$80,000 a month. That's a little much for a junior/mid level developer don't u think?

And thanks for the help KIA!
