wanting to meet new friends

Hi Koey, our book group is meeting tonight for only the second time. So it's a great time to meet new expat chicks. We'll start by discussing 'the World of Suzie Wong', but we'll likely move onto other girl talk once the wine and beer kicks in!

Anyway, we're meeting on the rooftop of The Fringe Club in Lan Kwai Fong ay 7pm.

Post

I've received a few replies to this thread, so I'll post it here.

Our book club is still new and certainly open to anyone, alas, the current make-up of the members are female-late 20s to early 40s- nonmothers- single to newlyweds- mostly less than a year in HK(we have one rogue Lifer!)- exPats from all four major English speaking countries. And the industry fields run the gammot, so not worth specifying.

We are currently meeting the first Thursday of the month. Rooftop of the Fringe Club in Lan Kwai Fong (cash only). The September book was 'The World of Suzie Wong', a treasured read to reminisce about HK. The upcoming October book is Kurt Vonnegut's "Breakfast of Champions".

We met via another exPat website, so we communicate via Facebook, though not a group yet. hhmmm... maybe I'll do that today.
Anyway...

All newcomers should know about Meetup.com. I found a great hiking group, capoeira group, and volunteer groups via that. Apparently it exists for a lot of countries to find groups to join.

{Shri, I hope my info above isn't taking away from GeoExpat's features or that it breaks any rules. If it does, just tell the folks to PM me.}

Book Club

Heya,
I would love to know more about this book club. I am moving to HK from Sydney on Monday and don't know too many people yet but as a newspaper editor and very much into both the reading and social aspects
