Oasis airline?

Has anyone tried the London-Hk Oasis flight? What is it like? Not too crappy? I was thinking of flying family over on them...

Parents flew with them recently. Gatwick - what a hole. If you need to connect to another flight the times may not be convenient. They had to wait eight hours for theirs. In flight meals were VERY basic. HK check-in is at Terminal 2 which is a good 10-15 minute walk from T1. Then you need to walk back to T1 to go through the departure gates. Recent delays highlighted their amateurish experience. Cheap, but you get what you pay for.

As I have posted on this before.

Oasis, good airline, tries hard. Let down by Gatwick destination.
Agree 100% disco's comment on it.

Tomorrow, I fly to UK. Having discarded Oasis on my experience of Gatwick and Oasis agents ( not their own people ) and BAA staff there. Going Air NZ to Heathrow, which is also crap, but 5000 % better than Gatwick.

Read the BAA airport baggage requirements CAREFULLY, its not the same as here.

to go to terminal 1 from the airport express, take the lefthand train doors and to go to terminal 2 take the righthand train doors- i thought that was pretty neat system. it's a 15 minute walk back to the gate if you stop for a smoothie and a newspaper.
[sidebar, the new terminal is beautiful at night!]

If you read my post, you will see that if you do intown check in you can totally avoid T2 at HKG.

Friends and family have flown Oasis econ and they are pretty content with it. Decent seat pitch, OK food and decent staff.

However, yes, LGW South is chav hell. Shame they didn't use LGW North, so so much more better (however I'm guessing LGW South was cheaper).

I flew with Oasis twice in the past 2 months. Service was great, no different than flying economy with Cathay or anyone else I've flown with. Checking in at Terminal 2 at HKG is a bonus; it's really quiet, which makes shopping and customs a breeze.

I wouldn't hesitate to fly with them again (at least until ***** Macau finally takes off )
