Hi,

I just came back from US and I would like to find out what is the expected salary range in H.K. for a person like me with the similar education.

I have couple years of working experience in US and just received my MBA. I have expereince in IT and management and looking for something like business consulting or project management. Any suggestion?

Have you looked around on various jobs sites to see what salary levels are being offered for jobs you might be interested in?

Salary Range in HK

I’m currently located in the US and planning to relocate to Hong Kong. I’m having a phone interview with a US financial Institution and HR is asking me what my expected salary is? I wanted to fins out the salary range over there so I can better prepare for the negotiation. Do you (or does anyone) think HK$39K is too low? This company only pays 12 months salary and I know housing is approximately HK$15K per month.

I’ve 10 years of working experience in the financial industry, but only 3 years experience as a business analyst. I also have a master degree. They told me that there is no expat package as they consider this as local hire. Do you think if I get an offer, would they reimburse relocation? (E.g. plane ticket to HK.)

Also, I’m just curious how anyone get a job offer when they are oversea?

Hi, i just moved over to HK to start a new job. I got the company to pay for the plane ticket and to put me up in a hotel for the first 2 weeks. But I guess each company is different. I just get a straight salary , no housing assistance.

Hope that helps

if you dont ask you wont get it

Thanks. Antiloop. That's helpful. I think I'll definiately ask them. Just curious, did you find your job in Hong Kong or when you're still oversea. If so, did you go through a recuiter?

housing is flexible, you get healthy apartment around hk$10k. But with 10 years of experience and have mba, should be able to get more than hk$39k, i am not expert in financial but was working in project management, the financial site always offer more than hk$40k for this kind of post and the last known was $50k for a 10 yrs IT project manager(but thats for local hk applicants), it will depends on what is your previous company and how famouse of your mba schools...i think we got forum member here in similar role are getting hkD$90k-100k as well. The best thing is you call up a receruitment agent and check with them.

hope this info helps

I got my job through a contact; I flew to Hong Kong for the interview and got the job.

Then came back 6 wks later and started working.

While i was here the first time i went to a couple other interviews. There seems to be a lot of work available , at least for my area of work (property). I think at the end of the day you actually just got to take the chance and come over. All you going to waste is a plane ticket at the very worst and you always going to wonder if you should have come.
