Parents Visiting Thailand - Advice needed

Hi

My parents are visiting bangkok, kanchanburi and need to go on to a beach area in thailand - they are happy to fly and/or take a ferry but I am looking for advice on where would be good for the to go to?

They are not in to large resorts and would ideally like somewhere they could visit the rain forest and a temple or two as well.
