DB Management Problems

Recent events such as the 5-day water outage, and the death of Beer Bay, point out that management rarely listens to the 'little people'. Granted, DB is a privately owned estate, but does that give management the right to dictate living conditions? First it was the van service, and now a business and water services. How do other residents feel about living in DB now?

It is because they are privately run that you have to put up with their fascist management style. A little bump for you.

Naturally, discobay, there are little bumps in life. Which part of DB do you live in? Were you affected? I live near the plaza, and we were never without water services.

I used to live up the hill in Midvale. I was never happy with the club membership costs and how an owner can not become a member if he has let out his flat. Then there was/is the high cost of the bus shuttles. Cart parking used to be free in the early days but then they started charging. And how they suppress competition (keeping prices high) by only allowing one department store, one coffee shop, one bank, one bar etc etc.
I moved away from DB years ago - but it may have changed.

I agree that DB management cares mostly about money but how is that different from any other developer in Hong Kong. The handling of the most recent 'toilet crisis' was another botched example of poor customer (e.g. residents) focus and communication. There was no information about how long it would take for the problem to be fixed and there were no recommendations were to go when nature calls. I decided to use the toilet facilities at the plaza, which to my surprise were much cleaner than I expected in a situations where thousands were without flushing toilets for days ! What pissed me off the most about this was the apparent lack of urgency in fixing this; I saw no workers on Sunday and even on Saturday, the first day after the pipe broke, people seemed to work no overtime hours. Perhaps in my naivity I expected people working double-shifts into the night and on Sunday to fix this problem but perhaps from the perspective of an affected resident things look different than from DB management's point of view, who did not consider this to be an emergency situation that justified urgent remediation.
