Because of the exodus just before the hand over and the subsequent return after the world didn't end, there are more Canadians here than any other nationality (not counting the Chinese).

Ah, home of the Calgary Flames...I hear that Alberta's economy is real hot right now. Would you pls tell me just how great the economy is? Say, there's no more ppl go on welfare and everybody got a job

Also, how come the loonies is at an all time high?

Yup, Alberta is pretty booming but slowing down now. It's all tied to oil as Calgary is the headquarters for most of the large oil companies in Canada, ie, Petro Canada, Husky, Shell, Imperial Oil, etc. Calgary real estates just skyrocketed over the last couple years. You see tons of nice cars around now so you know there is money. But, like any booming economy, the rich get richer and the poor get poorer. There's definitely lots of jobs out there and there is a shortage of people for those jobs but living standard is quite high.

As to the loonie, like most currency, it's tied to US dollar. As well, Canadian retail economy has been really hot.
