Looking for Serviced Apartments in..

I'm moving to HK end of Aug to pursue my studies for a year. After many hours of online research I have decided to stay in a serviced apartment for a month or so first, to get a feel of HK, then during that period look for a more permanant place.

I'll be studying in HKUST (clearwater bay), and while I do like the nice quiet of Sai Kung I think I prefer the bustle of urban life (I also want to mingle with the locals, maybe learn a thing or two from them). For those reasons I think the best place for me would be Tseung Kwan O, and somewhere around there maybe (Hang Hau, Po Lam?) I also know that there's a bus to HKUST from the Diamond Hill MTR station, so I guess Diamond Hill, Kowloon Tong, Choi Hung, etc. are good points too.

My question now is, are there serviced apartments within the areas mentioned? I've been looking for this info online but can't seem to find any. Note that being a student, my budget is very limited (3K-4K, maybe 5K max). I hope there's some serviced apartments for me there...

Thanks in advance!

Sorry - as far as I know, there are no serviced apartments in the areas that you mentioned. The only one relatively close by is Horizon Suites in Ma On Shan (north of Sai Kung - on road to Shatin).

But - the rent is really over your budget.

Otherwise - there are many serviced apartments on HK Island (some in North Point, the first stop on the Island from Hang Hau) but ...I imagine most rents would be prohibitive for you.

Could you not live in the visitor accommodation on campus for a short while until you find another place?

I think you'll find that it's pretty easy to get in and out of the city from UST. You can jump from the natural beauty of Port Shelter area to the urban sights and sounds within 3/4 hr.

Sai Kung town, itself, provides a great mixture of local and western culture and is just 15 minutes down the road.

Good luck with the move and your search for temporary and longer term accommodation. If you need any info on SK - check out our portal and you are welcome to send us specific questions on the area.

Cheers!
Judy
