Does USA have Investment visa?

hello,

i have a question for the invstment guys ;-)
many countries offer a special kind of visa (investment visa) for people who are investing (mainly) into propoerty in the country.
how about the USA? do they have something like that too?
if yes, what is the minimum investment you need to have, to be accepted for this kind of visa?

thanks,
sandra

No - an L visa is an intra-company transferee. ( http://hongkong.usconsulate.gov/niv_...ategories.html )

The US Consulate site doesn't immediately show an Investment Visa based purely on buying assets. There is an investment visa (E5 class) based on investing in a new business in the US which employs at least 10 US Citizens/permanent residents. ( http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigra...ypes_1323.html )

US visas are tricky. L would work if your HK company bought a US company and transfered you down there to manage it.

A small company I worked for in New York (I'm not a US citizen) had less than that, and one of the partners was an Irish citizen. The other partner was a US citizen though...that could be why she qualified for the visa, with an initial investment of US$10,000 and business plans to show as proof. I"m not quite sure what category of visa she was on (was definitely some kind of investor's visa), but from the sounds of it, it was pretty straightforward for her to get it.
