Party Songs

Hello all,

I need some help please! I'm arranging a surprise 60th party for my Dad in the UK in November. (Here's to hoping he can't get on this site!)

It's time to start thinking about tunes to dance to, and I wondered if any of you could give me some ideas on tracks?

My Dad is very much into cheesey songs, so anything from the 60's, 70's, 80's or even the 90's that makes you want to get up and swing your pants would be great! List away...

Thanks in advance!

The Birdy Song, Aga Doo, anything by Status Quo.
In fact anything by a 4pc band or the seasons " summer holiday hit song" if you really want to insult him.

Of course anything Motown and Reggae, if he was into that. The former for earlier and the latter after a few sherberts.

Or if he was more Anglo Saxon then "Ted" or "Rockabilly" will get the party started. Move on to more heavy stuff like Phil Collins, Wizard, Buster Bloodvessel, DP or Sabbath as the night draws on and the single malt flows like a mountain stream.

Just remember --- cos we is old doesn't mean we is foggies !

And for the fogies who have weak knees and whose bones hurt... some slowish numbers too.

Neil Diamond, Beatles ... Imagine would be such an ironic song... a dream that's not come true. Some classic Stones ...

(Sorry, I cant get back to what the Brits were dancing to in the 70s and 80s... I can just imagine...)

So Whigfield - Saturday Night should be perfect then? A couple more serious suggestions though could be Slade - Come on feel the noise, and from the 90s Chumbawumba - Tubthumping (any group whose lead singer chucks a barrel of water over Two Jags Prescott deserves to be played).

Well if corny and cheesy goes then:

Duran Duran - Wild Boys
(anything from the Top Gun soundtrack)
T-Rex - 20th Century Boy
Spandau Ballet - Gold
Adam & the Ants - Stand and Deliver
The Communards - Don't Leave Me This Way
Blur - Parklife
Simple Minds - Don't You Forget About Me
Alice Cooper - Poison (or Schools Out for Summer)
The Clash - London Calling
The Jam - Town Called Malice
They Might Be Giants - Birdhouse In Your Soul
Bon Jovi - Livin' On a Prayer
Europe - Final Countdown
Kiss - (Crazy) Crazy Nights

I should like to point out that I admit to having some (but not all) of these
