liquids in the carry-on from HKG to BKK

i am about to take a week holiday in bangkok and was wondering if the HKG airport has any rules on packing liquids in the carry-on for roundtrip flights within Asia. i'm from the US and know that if you're flying anywhere in the US you can't take more than 3 oz. of any liquid and it has to be in a sealed 1 qt. clear plastic bag. does HKG airport have any sort of similar regulations? many thanks.

Yes, my dear friend had all of her expensive cosmetics and hair supplies thrown in the garbage at security. I mean MUCHO money down the drain.

They allow 100 ml only and also put into a clear plastic bag.

Everything has to fit into a ziplock bag and the max size for each bottle is 100ml. There is a very comprehensive list issed by the HK Airport available for download on the Cathay Pacific website.

These rules are pretty much standard the world over now (except for a few places like Manila where no liquids at all are allowed in carry-on, although they don't have a reliable way of detecting them).

This has been in force at HKIA since around April. The resealable bags are available at the airport.

I recently came back from a trip to thailand, going there was no problem, comming back was different. i went with a 1/4 left bottle of cologne, the bottle size was 125ml but only a 1/4 of it was left. going to thailand was no problem but comming back they said i could not take it back. I showed them the bottle and less then 1/4 was left but they said that the bottle is labeled 125ml so i have to throw it away. This I thougth was very stupid so I started to spray the cologne onto myself as much as possible before throwing it away. some people just dont have any common sense. if the bottle was full then it would have been my fault as it would have been over the requirement but this bottle was on its last legs and would have lasted me 1 more week. Damm moron's.

You were lucky to get away with that on the way to Thailand. The rules are VERY clear. The container must be no more than 100ml. It doesn't matter how much liquid is in it (although you may carry a container of any size that is empty).

http://www.hongkongairport.com/eng/t...y.htm#NEW_RULE

Don't blame the agents who have to enforce these rules - blame the idiots who make them up in the hope that the sheeple will somehow think it makes them safer (which, of course it doesn't).

On a recent flight from Beijing, the security person had a problem with my eyedrops (30ML bottle) which I carry in my pocket.

I promptly put a couple of drops in my eyes and said told the person who was travelling with me to tell the woman that I'd go blind if I did not use them every hour.

Yes, they then proceeded to give me a clear plastic bag, into which I put the eye drops and walked away.

Geez, they're coming up with some brilliant rules and regulations, huh? I think the regulations they have in place doesn't have so much to do with liquid explosives because there are so many ways to blow up a plane, but they're there to create a sense of safety in the minds of travellers.
