Immigration Office

Can anyone here tell me if the Immigration office is usually fully packed by 1pm afternoon on a Friday? I will be arriving in HK at around 12pm and need to go to the Immigration office in Wan Chai but if it will be full of people, is it worth my time going? Or should I wait until Saturday and go early morning? Basically, how busy is the office?

Is it an initial application or are you picking up some visas? Each is done on a different floor and either can be busy at anytime.

I have been there (7th floor) on a Friday before and it was fairly empty, but that was a bit later (say 2 ish - post lunch hour rush).

Last time I was there (last Tuesday morning), I was only on the 5th floor to pick up some new visas, and I had to wait less than 45 mins. Initial applications on the 7th floor take a bit longer, if it is just picking up a visa it won't be as painful.

Thanks. I am going to the office on the 7th floor I believe to see if I can apply for HKID and what documents I will need.

I am a Canadian born chinese with my father being from Hong Kong but moved to Canada before I was born. From this thread: http://www.geoexpat.com/forum/hkid-me-t17438.html some people have said I can get an ID and some have said I cannot. Ill have to wait till Friday and see what the immigration officer says. By the way, they can speak fluent English right?

I've never seen the 7th floor hugely busy (and I've been there several times at different hours in last couple of months). All ImmD officers speak reasonably fluent English.
