I would like to know if there is any users in Hong Kong using this product
http://www.dlink.com/products/?sec=1&pid=332
http://www.aztech.com/prod_homeplug_hl108e.html

I somehow see this in Sham Shui Po before, but I would like to know why is it not so popular in Hong Kong?

Not sure about this product but PoE is pretty established technology. Cisco (not Linksys) has had PoE products for over 4 or 5 years out on the market.

They are particularly good at powering IP phones when you want to cut down the amount of cables and power sockets you need. Also used for access points so that you can place an Wireless access point anywhere without having to worry about a power source.

That's a third thing, I don't think its practical in built up areas like Hong Kong where fibre is easy to deploy to neighbourhoods and buildings.

I think you are trying to imply HomePlug which is fine. Why do you think its not popular? Wifi is cheaper and easier to use for most people though.

There is a LOT of noise in the electrical cables in HK - Vacuum cleaners, washing machines etc etc ... which makes it easier to use WiFi ...

Seen plenty of home plug gear in the various computer centers.

I've been running a pair of Aztech HomePlug for one year and it's working fine. I hook up the desktop PC (in the bedroom) with a webcam which is located in the living room.

However, HomePlug appears to get interference from other electrical appliances; the worst being the switching power supply. The cell phone charger can also slow down the traffic to a crawl.

Other HomePlug users also share this problem so what I do is to let the HomePlug use its own electrical outlet without sharing. It's better to go for the wireless solution if there are not enough free electrical outlets dedicated for HomePlug.

I think we are confusing two things here everyone, which is often done.

PoE = Power Over Ethernet, using a Cat5 cable to bring both data and the electrical power to the device like a IP phone etc.

EoP = Ethernet over Power lines. - Transmit Ethernet data over your home Electricity installation. These devices plug into electricity sockets and provide you a RJ45 ethernet socket. You can setup a network without having to do any cabling by using the existing electrical installation.

This was researched by a poster called Phil-something last year. A thorough review if I remember correctly.
